Chemical Peel
TREATMENT IN
LOS ANGELES
A chemical peel is a minimally-invasive treatment that can make your skin appear younger and softer. This technique removes the damaged outer layers of skin and reveals a new layer of skin that is smoother, less wrinkled, and less pigmented. While chemical peels are generally performed on the face, they can improve skin features on the neck, upper chest, and hands. Chemical peel treatment is often combined with surgery to enhance the end cosmetic outcome.
At Eyesthetica, our expert physicians offer skin peeling treatments that result in more vibrant, youthful skin and exceptional results.

How Does a Chemical Peel Treatment Work?
Chemical peels can address the following conditions:
- Acne
- Age and Liver Spots
- Wrinkles
- Fine Lines
- Freckles
- Dark Patches
- Abnormal Skin Pigmentation
- Rough or Scaly Skin
- Scars
- Sun-Damaged Skin
This is achieved with careful treatment by our expert doctors. They will apply a solution typically containing glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and/or trichloroacetic acid to the skin in your particular area of interest. The solution causes layers of dead skin to slough and peel away, allowing the texture to become smoother as new collagen-enriched skin regenerates in its place over the course of about one week.
There are different strengths of skin peels that work at different dermal depths. You can receive a mild skin peel with a quick recovery time, but it may require multiple treatments to achieve the desired result. Deeper chemical peels can offer more dramatic results but necessitate a longer recovery period.

What to Expect from a Chemical Peel Treatment?
Prior to your treatment, your doctor will clean the treatment area and apply protective covering to any sensitive areas, such as hair or the eyes. For a mild skin peel or a deeper chemical peel, you’ll receive an anesthetic and painkiller as well. During the procedure itself, your doctor will apply the chemical peel, during which time you’ll likely feel stinging as the solution does its job.
Most skin peeling treatments last 30-60 minutes. Afterwards, your doctor will clean the treated area and apply a protective ointment to provide relief. You may also use an ice pack to provide a cooling effect and take over-the-counter pain medication such as ibuprofen as needed. Follow your doctor’s directions for recovery, which may include a moisturization regimen and protecting the area from the sun.

Is a Chemical Peel Right for Me?
The best way to determine if a chemical peel is the right decision for you is a consultation and examination by a qualified physician. At your visit to Eyesthetica, our doctors will conduct a thorough examination in which they’ll evaluate your skin’s quality and tone. They will also inquire as to your current medications, skin treatments, and history of infections to get a more complete picture of your skin’s health and determine if chemical peel treatment is right for you.
Please be aware that while a chemical peel treatment presents numerous benefits to your skin, it will not tighten sagging skin or remove deep scars. Those may be best treated by laser resurfacing, which tightens and improves skin texture and quality. Please speak to an Eyesthetica doctor for further details.
